Tour the Gettysburg Battlefield on our famous open-air double decker bus (weather permitting) or enjoy an air-conditioned coach. Both are available with a National Park Service licensed guide.

Tours depart from the Gettysburg Tour Center located at 778 Baltimore Street. There is plenty of free parking at the Tour Center for your bus tour! Here’s a link to our Bus Tour Schedule.

Enclosed Air Conditioned Bus Tour

Tour the historic fields of Gettysburg watching history come alive through the perspective of a licensed battlefield guide. These tours are available year round.

Open Air Double Decker Bus Tour

This tour combines the fascinating detail only a licensed guide can provide with our famous double-decker bus, giving you the ultimate Gettysburg battlefield bus tour. These tours are available seasonally late spring through fall. Tours are rain or shine (poncho’s are provided for light rain), however, during predicted heavier rain events or severe weather the tour will take place on an enclosed bus.

Gettysburg Tour Center FAQ

How long is the bus tour?

Our guided bus tours and double decker tours are both 2 hours long.

Is the bus tour hop on hop off?

No, our battlefield tours are a continuously running tour with a rest stop about halfway through and at least one historic stop with one of your battlefield guides.

Is this the Visitor Center?

No, The Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center and Museum is located at 1195 Baltimore Pike and is run by the Gettysburg Foundation and Gettysburg National Military Park. The Gettysburg Tour Center operates Gettysburg Battlefield Bus Tours as well as Ghostly Images of Gettysburg tours.

Are there any discounts on tours?

Yes, we offer a 10% military discount for all active service members and veterans and a group rate discount on groups 10 or larger available by phone by calling 717-334-6296 or in person.

Are there any package deals I can purchase for any other attractions in town?

Yes, We offer a Value Plan which partners with seven different museums in and around Gettysburg.

Will the bus still go in the rain?

Yes, both our enclosed coaches and open-air Double Deckers run rain or shine. In the case of severe weather Open Air Double Deckers are subject to be changed to an enclosed bus.

Do your tours run at night?

The Gettysburg National Military Park is closed at sunset and reopens at sunrise daily. We do offer the The Haunted Bus Tour seasonally with Ghostly Images of Gettysburg who also offer evening tours of both the Historic Jennie Wade House and The National Soldiers Orphanage Homestead.

Are Pets allowed on the bus?

No, Only Certified Service Dogs are allowed on the bus tour.

Should we book ahead?

Yes, to ensure you have a seat available we ask you book ahead either online or over the phone. During our busy season our tours fill up very quickly so booking ahead is greatly encouraged.

Is parking free?

Yes, parking is free around the tour center building. No overnight parking is permitted.

What do I do if I’m running late for a tour?

Call ahead to let the staff know you are running behind if later than 5 minutes your tour will have to be moved to another available time.

  • No Rain Refunds.
  • Please allow three weeks notice for all bus trips if you require an interpreter.
  • Food and drinks are permitted but no glass bottles.
